The Traveling Nanny
Vacation is a time for families
to relax and enjoy each other.
It is also a time the parents
need to have some quality time
alone. A Traveling Nanny steps
aside as the parents spend time
with their children and steps
back in to take care of naps,
lunch and those precious moments
parents spend alone.
Often I stay with children when
the parents have business trips
or want a three day weekend as a
couple.
Traveling Nanny is based on a
24/7 rate which means my only
"down" time is when you are
having a private time with the
children. You don't have to keep
track of time used or think
about "when I'm available". My
motto is This Is Your Vacation -
Not Mine!".
The Temporary Nanny
A temporary nanny is utilized in
many ways. We fill the gap when
you are between nannies or the
regular nanny has vacation
coming, but you still need a
nanny.
Often people who own their own
business have periods when they
need to put in 16 hour days.
Normally, they might not even
have a nanny, but just need
someone when they get to the
busy times of the years. A
temporary nanny can fill that
void.
School vacations are for
children; parents still have to
work! Parents may decide it
would be great if the children
could stay at home and not have
to be carted off to daycare
every day. Or the children are
involved in different summer
projects and they need a nanny
that can see everyone gets to
where they need to be. College
kids are great for these times,
but not everyone lives in a
college town and a temporary
nanny can once again fill the
void.
The Consultant
Parents
who are choosing their first
nanny are often overwhelmed.
What do they really need? How do
they get someone interested in
their families? Should they do
background checks and if so, how
do they do that?
A Consultant can work in various
ways. It is extremely helpful if
the consultant can come into the
home and work the job for at
least a few days. Then she can
sit down with the family and
help them prioritize their
needs.
A consultant can also help the
place ads, screen the applicants
for them and when she forms a
list of possibilities, discuss
them with the parents. The
parents will then call and do
phone interviews to see if
anyone "feels right" and
arranges for interviews. Going
through online resumes/newspaper
replies is very time consuming
and this service lets them just
look at those nannies who stand
a chance of fitting in with
their families.
The Transitional Nanny
A transitional nanny is a form
of temporary nanny. The
difference is the family has had
a long term nanny that has
bonded well with their family,
but for personal reasons, she
had to give notice. It is not
uncommon for children to be
upset about this change and
resist anyone new. A
transitional nanny understands
this and helps them overcome the
fear of change. If they are
angry, she can help diffuse it.
She only stays a short period
until the parents have hired the
next nanny. The transitional
nanny helps the children get
excited about the new nanny.
It also gives the parents a
chance to find the right nanny
without having to rush and
search under stress of
deadlines.
So how do you choose what is
right for you?
Sometimes you just need one part
and sometimes a combination.
Together, we can talk it over
and decide what best fits your
needs. |
