Rates
I know
that parents like to know right up front what to
expect in cost. Even if you really like someone, why
waste your time if you can’t afford her?
The
main reason I hate to quote rates on my site is that
I feel each family represent different needs. Within
each category there will be factors that control
rates such as number and ages of children, what you
need—just childcare or combination of services? Most
temporary nanny categories have a base rate starting
at $16/hour and flat weekly rates can be negotiated
too.
Baby
nanny rates depend on whether it is strictly 24 hour
baby care (starts at $225 a day), Extended baby care
(13 hour days where you get more than just the night
shift--$175 a day) and combination care can be
negotiated for those parents who need more than just
a baby nanny.
Travel
has the most variants so rates start at $175 a day.
Variants include set hours each day or 24 hour
service, what is going to be involved, etc. I highly
recommend parents consider 24 hour rates since it
isn’t that much more, and you’ll have more freedom
to be spontaneous. I also give a “returning client”
discount to parents who use me on a yearly basis.
While
the IRS puts nannies into the domestic category
making parents responsible for taxes, I consider
Travel/ Temporary Nannies to be in a gray area. To
cover myself, my rates include the parent’s portion
of dedicated taxes and I file my taxes quarterly. It
makes my expenses higher but the convenience to the
family makes it worth it. |
