From My House to
Yours
I see you’ve found your way here!
Perhaps you’ve been searching for a full time nanny, and you’re getting
discouraged and bleary-eyed from looking at the many different nanny web pages
out there. Maybe you think you’ve found a good candidate, but are a little
unsure what questions you should ask her. This web site was designed with
parents in mind, and I hope I can help you find some answers here. I understand
how confusing and frustrating this time can be for you!
Four years ago I sat at my
computer wondering how to expand my nanny career. I had enjoyed doing nanny
share jobs and the freedom it gave me to continue my other interests. As I look
back on that time, it's hard to believe that I saw the nanny world only in my
own city. I will never forget the amazement and thrill the day I typed in the
word nanny on an internet search engine. I read eagerly about the
International Nanny Association
where quality agencies actually specialized in matching nannies and families; I
couldn't wait to join and go to my first conference. The next website I came to
was
4Everythingnanny.com. When I saw their classified ads, I realized there
were many parents out there who had been searching for a nanny but hadn’t yet
been able to find the right match. My imagination started to tingle, and I
wondered if there was a market for a Traveling Temporary Nanny. I knew I could
offer parents the heart of another parent, nanny skills and household management
skills. I thought if parents could hire someone to help out with their children
and their household on a temporary basis, they’d be able to renew their energy
to search for the right match, not just "any" match. The Traveling Nanny
was born and ready to soothe nervous parents.
Many of the emails I receive
contain questions about children and nannies. I’ve dedicated part of my site to
my perspective on some of these issues that parents have mentioned. You can
click on Ask the Nanny to see if your
question is there, or write me and let me know what question you’d like to see
included.
In the
Kids Stuff section, I talk about what products I’ve used in various
households and what’s really worth the money. I encourage parents to write me
and share their favorites too.
Parents often ask me what type of
cute gift they could give their nanny from time to time to say thank you for
being there. I’ve included some suggestions in
It’s a Nanny’s Life.
Where do you start? Since the
hardest part is trying to figure out what kind of nanny you need, you might want
to start with Nanny Descriptions.
You think I forgot something? Just
email The Traveling Nanny, and tell me what you’d like to see here!
In case you’d like to know all
about me personally, you can just skip to the All About Me page.
