Cool Things for your Nanny

Parents and I are always talking about ways to make their nanny feel special. While traditional gifts are always great for birthdays, holidays or recognizing her start date with the family, I know parents are always looking for that different nanny gift.

Nanny Essentials (www.nannyessentials.com ): Nanny essentials is a site designed and written by a nanny. Besides some really cool t-shirts for your special nanny gift, she offers an online consulting service to help parents evaluate their nanny needs.

One of my favorites is an article, Wonderful Sounds for Sleep. I will do a book review on her next month, but for now, take a few moments and treat yourself to some great reads!

Don’t know what to give your nanny that is different and shows her how much you value the profession? Many nannies still do not know that they are part of a large organization. Give them a membership to the International Nanny Association (http://www.nanny.org). This wonderful organization has a conference from Fri./Sun. every year. The membership would make a great birthday gift and a fabulous holiday gift would be the conference fee with a paid educational day for that Friday. How does this benefit you? Well, besides telling her friends she works for the best parents in the whole world, she will gain great ideas in the workshops for working with your children. If that isn’t enough, just meeting nannies all over the US is exhilarating and will increase her pride in her profession. For three days she will feel very special.
