Luxury or
Necessity?
I
think parents need to answer that question for
themselves. Sometimes the reason for wanting a baby
nanny is medical—you are scheduled for a C-Section
and you want time to recover, and yet you want your
baby to have full time attention too.
Maybe
you have a maternity leave, and you really need a
chance to rest and recover quickly so that you will
have all the energy you need to juggle career and a
child.
Then
there is the best reason of all. You simply deserve
someone who can help you enjoy this most precious
moment. A baby nanny does more than just feed and
diaper. She also listens to you, and gets you that
cup of tea or coffee you crave when you open your
eyes! You get all the time with the baby you
want—she’s not there to get between you and your
baby because no one can take the place of a mother.
But she can take the night shift so you can sleep or
if breastfeeding, bring the baby to you to feed. You
get back to sleep while she resettles the baby.
If you
were to ask me what my “style” was I’d say that I
believe in sleep/feeding structure and listening to
your baby. My favorite baby book is the Baby
Whisperer. You can’t always make babies fit some
book’s model. You have to learn to trust your
instincts, and I feel that I have good instincts. A
baby’s world is eating and sleeping and either of
those can be difficult for some babies. The great
thing about baby nannies is that many of us keep in
contact with each other and if a problem stumps us,
we will ask for advice from our peers who also
represent the best.
I
think there are many great baby care specialists out
there who can do a great job for you. You may need
someone more experienced with preemies or multiples.
I think I know the best in the business, and I will
be happy to pass on their names to you. But if you
are going to have a single birth and want someone to
nurture you and the baby, consider my services.
Baby
nannies can work 24 hour shifts or 12 hour shifts.
